TRUE STORY:

DSU PETERBUILT GAINS SPEED, SECURITY AND TIME

SITUATION

Managing the technology of 4 locations and 180 employees, DSU’s only IT person was busy to say the least. John was pulled thin as he focused on end user issues, so DSU lacked a standard process for everything from desktop deployment to automation. Furthermore, DSU’s computers were outdated and slow, taking 3-5 minutes to start each day. DSU needed IT that was centralized, efficient, and secure. And they needed to free up John’s time so he could leverage the technology within the business.

ACTIONS

The Convergence team met with DSU’s management and executive team to learn exactly what they needed. Based on those needs, Convergence developed a solution including:

  • Developing a workstation deployment package via automation, leveraging solid state drives in all computers for optimal performance and life.
  • Virtualizing DSU’s critical server infrastructure.
  • Providing affordable ongoing desktop support including out-of-bound management using vPro technology to reduce cost and power usage.
  • Performing a Cost Benefit Analysis of on premise vs. cloud options for technical services, complemented by a business continuity plan to ensure uptime.

RESULTS

Now everyone at DSU has a fast and efficient computer, making it easier to get more done on the job. With on-premise server infrastructure, DSU’s network is centralized and simpler to manage. John has real-time visibility of the network and enjoys automated maintenance of all 180 workstations.
